MMIC Design

Systems with high demands in terms of the operating frequency, output power, low noise, linearity, etc., such as applications used in automotive radar, broadband communications, radio relay systems, optoelectronics, cellular phone power amplifications, and the measurements and instrumentations industry, etc., require powerful, monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC). To meet these performance issues, the use of GaAs, InP, GaN, SiGe also, as well as other heterostructure compound-semiconductor components is imperative.

Further challenges are imposed by market-relevant aspects, such as time-to-market, costs and reliable design approaches - aspects which even play a dominant role in many cases. To meet these challenges, modern circuit design must pursue new paths. mm-wave SiGe design

Many high frequency applications today can make use of the SiGe technology, which offers high transit frequencies and excellent 1/f-noise behaviour. Furthermore, SiGe MMICs allow the integration of digital functionality. Therefore, using SiGe oscillators or even complete synthesizers with a very good phase noise perfromance can be developed.
